Russian nurses learn about American health care

Though separated a world apart in terms of distance, culture and health care systems, the love of nursing recently brought together American and Russian nurse leaders who forged an instant bond.

The UNMC College of Nursing hosted an educational visit of eight Russian nurse leaders Oct. 17-22, in an effort to show their colleagues how health policy efforts can improve the health of their communities. The visiting Russian women were chief nursing officers, managers and professors.

Larsen earns Chancellor’s Gold ‘U’ Award for November

During working hours, don’t be surprised to find Sandy Larsen jumping up and down, playing pat-a-cake or reading children’s stories. It’s all part of her job as lead teacher in the Bear Room at the UNMC Child Development Center. For her outstanding performance and service, Larsen has received the Chancellor’s Gold ‘U’ Award for November.

UNMC faculty member Dr. Al-Omaishi dies

Jinan Al-Omaishi, M.D., assistant professor in UNMC’s department of neurological sciences, died Sunday, Nov. 3, after battling cancer. She was 41.
