Leader of Association of Academic Health Centers visit postponed
Due to inclement weather in the Washington, D.C., area, the president and CEO of the Association of Academic Health Centers (AHC) will not visit UNMC today and Friday, as planned. The visit of Roger J. Bulger, M.D., is being rescheduled for early 2003.

UNMC lung specialist: People with COPD suffer needlessly
Though more than 80 percent of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is caused by cigarette smoking, a surprising number of people with COPD in the United States and Europe don’t believe there’s much that can be done to help their condition. In addition, those people don’t often ask for treatment, according to the results of an international survey. Stephen Rennard, M.D., Larson Professor of Medicine at UNMC, published the first in a series of articles in the European Respiratory Journal addressing some of the issues raised by the survey. IACUC seeks candidates for executive chair
UNMC’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) has decided to create the position of executive chair of the IACUC (ECI). The ECI will report administratively to the associate vice chancellor for academic affairs. All interested individuals are encouraged to apply.
