New nursing dean visits Kearney, Scottsbluff

In just her second week as the new dean of the UNMC College of Nursing, Virginia Tilden, D.N.Sc., traveled to Scottsbluff and Kearney. Her goal was to listen to citizens; visit UNMC nursing campuses; meet with faculty, staff and students; visit with hospital leaders; and emphasize UNMC’s commitment to the state’s rural areas.

Panowicz honored with Light of Wellness Award

A year ago, when Dorothy Panowicz would return to the UNMC Administration Building from a meeting at Wittson Hall, the uphill walk left her winded. Today, a few months after smoking her last cigarette, the Business and Finance staff assistant makes the climb with ease. She was one of 11 Omaha-area people honored last week with the William M. Kizer Light of Wellness Award, presented by the Wellness Council of the Midlands.
