Dog therapy is part of Stress Free Zone

UNMC/NHS faculty and staff discovered a Stress Free Zone Wednesday on campus. The event was designed to help build awareness, educate and possibly change behaviors related to stress and its effects.

Leader of global smallpox eradication campaign at UNMC

On Wednesday, Donald A. Henderson, M.D., learned what Tom Ridge and other top U.S. governmental officials have found out in the past few months: Nebraska, and UNMC specifically, are leaders in bioterrorism preparedness.

The man who spent 10 years directing the World Health Organization’s global smallpox eradication campaign will cap his two-day visit to UNMC today with the Latta Lecture. Dr. Henderson is senior science advisor to the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Armitage resigns as College of Medicine dean, will stay at UNMC

James O. Armitage, M.D., an internationally recognized expert in the research and treatment of lymphoma, has resigned as dean of the College of Medicine at UNMC, effective Sept. 1. He plans to stay at UNMC, focusing his efforts on medical students and his clinical and research interests.

Susman earns Chancellor’s Gold ‘U’ Award

Katharine Susman has one goal for the computer programs she designs: If it’s not as easy as putting a form into a typewriter, no one will use it. The lesson, which she heard from a customer years ago, is Susman’s mantra. For her outstanding performance, the senior programmer/analyst for Information Technology Services has received the Chancellor’s Gold ‘U’ Award for February.
