UNMC honors minority graduates at reception

Ten underrepresented minority students who graduated recently from UNMC were recognized May 6 at the annual Minority Graduate Recognition Reception. Sponsored by UNMC’s Office of Student Equity and Multicultural Affairs, this year’s program was held at the Omaha Woman’s Club Mansion, 518 S. 38th St.

June 12 celebration marks successful HIPAA implementation

NHS, UNMC & UMA will host a celebration on Thursday, June 12, to recognize employees for the successful implementation of HIPAA. Ice cream sandwiches will be served at the celebration, which will take place from 1-4 p.m. in the courtyard between Swanson Hall and the visitor parking structure.

East Utility Plant Open House Today

Faculty, staff and students are invited to take a close look at the utility plant at an open house today (Thursday, May 29). The open house will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the plant, located at 40th Street and Dewey Avenue.
Over the past year and a half, on the corner of 40th and Dewey, the campus has seen the transformation of a parking lot into a “state of the art” East Utility Plant.

Open house slated for May 31 at Baker Place

As a way to show appreciation to the north Omaha community and its neighbors, UNMC, NHS and the North Omaha Community Care Council (NOCCC) will host an open house Saturday, May 31 at the University Medical Associates (UMA) Health Center, 5050 Ames Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dr. Schnoes wins MMI poster contest

Connie Schnoes, Ph.D., a one-year post-doctoral psychology fellow at Munroe-Meyer Institute, was judged the winner of MMI’s Fourth Annual Poster Session, which took place May 14. Dr. Schnoes completed her Ph.D. in school psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln last August.

In all, 14 posters from graduate students were presented at the poster session. Thirteen faculty and staff posters also were presented, but those were not judged for the contest.

Two nurse-managed health centers celebrate 10th anniversaries

The 10th anniversary of the UNMC College of Nursing’s two nurse-managed community health centers is a celebration of improved health of thousands and those whose lives have been saved. The college is celebrating 10 years of service of its Cosmopolitan-UNMC College of Nursing Mobile Nursing Center and the Family Health Care Center.
