ITS reminds UNMC faculty, staff and students to abide by all copyright laws. Everyone knows what this looks like using the traditional copy machine, but have you thought about the implications of illegally downloading or copying music files, photographs, software and movies electronically? These also are copyright violations.

UNMC attracts ‘best and brightest’
More students are attending UNMC this fall, and the incoming students are of exceptional quality, the campus’s chief academic officer said today. This fall, 2,904 students are enrolled at UNMC, an increase of 39 students (1.4 percent) from fall 2003.

Nursing to offer accelerated bachelor’s degree
The UNMC College of Nursing has received a $1.17 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The grant will provide three years of funding to launch and establish a one-year accelerated bachelor’s degree in nursing program.

Worldwide Lymphoma Awareness Day to spotlight symptoms
Omahan Jim Cavanagh didn’t think anything about a lump under his arm and doesn’t remember ever hearing the word “lymphoma” before 1999. About six months to a year after he discovered the painless lump, Cavanagh saw his family physician who, in turn, sent him to a surgeon. On Wednesday, the health field will recognize the first-ever Worldwide Lymphoma Awareness Day with the goals of increasing symptom recognition and early diagnosis and treatment of lymphoma.

The McGoogan Library of Medicine is promoting four new resources that will benefit UNMC faculty, staff and students. The resources — ScienceDirect Backfiles, Exam Master, FIRSTConsult and images.MD – respectively provide online access to past journal articles, online tests capabilities, clinical diagnosis information and downloadable medical images.
