ITS offers advice on latest e-mail worm

The e-mail worm known as “MyDoom” “Novarg” or “WORM_MIMAIL.R” is currently spreading throughout the Internet. In response, UNMC ITS assembled its technical Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT), took appropriate actions and continues to monitor the network traffic on campus. UNMC, neighbors work together on apartment complex

There were some pleasant results when UNMC planners worked with the neighborhood association in designing a new 60-unit student apartment complex. After consulting with Blackstone Neighborhood Association members, architects came up with a better building design for the units near 38th Avenue and Jones Street and the neighbors are much happier.

National Biosecurity Center for Rural Health to form at UNMC

A new national biosecurity center headquartered at UNMC will focus on improving rural health. Funding for the National Biosecurity Center for Rural Health came from a $1 million appropriation in 2004 Omnibus Appropriation Bill approved last week by the U.S. Congress. President George W. Bush signed the bill Friday.

Poison Center medical director contributes to toxicology book

The skin of a rattlesnake stretches across the office wall of Steven Seifert, M.D., at the Nebraska Regional Poison Center, where he is medical director. The deadly snake is representative of the many poisonous snakes mentioned in “Medical Toxicology” 3rd Edition, (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, $200), to which Dr. Seifert contributed 15 chapters.
