Changes to provide enhanced security for newborns

The labor and delivery/OB units (the Baby Place, 4 West, and the Birth Place) and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) are undergoing necessary changes to enhance the current security of the areas. Effective Monday, Feb. 9, permanent heightened security goes into effect. The most visual changes are taking place on the fourth floor of University Tower, where security doors and card-access entries are being installed at all entrances and exits.

“Night of a Thousand Stars” event at UNMC raises more than $14,500

More than $14,500 was raised at the UNMC-sponsored event during the annual “Night of a Thousand Stars” celebration, which took place Dec. 6 in Omaha. The $14,582 raised at UNMC went to the Nebraska AIDS Project (NAP). In all, NAP received more than $430,000 from the night’s festivities.

Regents approve new cGMP facility

Patients with cancer, diabetes and liver failure will find hope in a new facility on the UNMC campus designed to advance innovative therapies. The University of Nebraska Board of Regents Saturday approved a proposal to renovate an existing building on the UNMC campus for a new, 11,825 square foot current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) Transplant Production Facility.
