Rural training residency program fulfils goals

John Mazour, M.D., is one of the first two physicians who completed the rural training residency program started by UNMC in 1990. Here, you’ll meet the rural physician in Albion, Neb., who not only takes care of the usual coughs and colds, but also delivers babies, is the attending emergency room physician and the medical director of several area nursing homes.

Grandsons provide Easter present for UNMC faculty members

William Gust, M.D., and Rowen Zetterman, M.D., have been close friends for more than 30 years. But, the longtime faculty members from the UNMC Internal Medicine Department will always look back on Easter week 2004 as one of their fondest memories. The two physicians added new grandsons to their families with both babies being born at University Tower earlier this week.

Nursing professor honored for research abstract

Scottsbluff resident T. Kim Callahan Rodehorst, Ph.D., was one of three health providers who recently received awards from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology during a conference in San Francisco. Dr. Rodehorst is an assistant professor of nursing at UNMC’s College of Nursing West Nebraska Division in Scottsbluff.

Caring with CLAS[S]

Beginning this month a series of two-hour presentations called CARING with CLAS[S] will be presented to look at bridging the cultural and linguistic gaps in health care. The presentations are open to everyone and provide a means of understanding Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) standards.

The UNMC Eppley Cancer Center at The Nebraska Medical Center, a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), worked with NCCN and the American Cancer Society to update Nausea and Vomiting Treatment Guidelines for Patients with Cancer.
