UNMC enrolls largest number in adolescent depression study

UNMC was one of 13 clinical sites to participate in a study that found the most favorable way of treating teens suffering from major depressive disorder is via a combination of antidepressant and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Findings in the study, coordinated by Duke University Medical Center, indicate that such a combination appears the best approach to alleviating depression and reducing the level of suicidal thinking in adolescents.

Dentistry ranks among top 20 in NIH funding

For the first time, the UNMC College of Dentistry is listed among the top 20 dental schools in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding. Ranked 20th out of the 55 dental colleges around the country, the College of Dentistry received $3,440,596 in NIH research support during fiscal year 2003.
