UNMC hosting international summit on pediatric soft tissue sarcomas

Carrie Lamm had never heard of rhabdomyosarcoma, nor did she know cancer in the muscle was possible. Then, her 3 -year-old daughter was diagnosed with it. Today, through Saturday, UNMC is hosting the Children’s Oncology Group International Summit on the Biology and Treatment of the Pediatric Soft Tissue Sarcomas.

UNMC research grant totals on track to set record

UNMC has received a record $52.3 million in total research grant funding from June 2003 through March 2004 (three fiscal quarters) and is now on target to break the $60 million barrier for the first time in a single fiscal year. The $16.6 million in federal research grants UNMC received during the third quarter (January, February and March) helped boost the year to new heights.

June 11 deemed day of mourning; UNMC offices will be closed

UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., has announced that UNMC offices will be closed on Friday, June 11, in observance of a national day of mourning for former President Ronald Reagan. Friday will be considered a day of (paid) administrative leave for all leave-eligible employees.
