Radiation science students host school games

Jim Temme, associate director of UNMC’s Radiation Science Technology Division, never could say no to his daughter. So when Abby McGinnis, a kindergarten teacher at Miller Park Elementary School in North Omaha, asked if Temme could round up a few volunteers to help out at the school’s first carnival on Nov. 4, he said no problem.

Changes to gross anatomy lab benefits students

Jon Henning and four other medical students huddle around the waist-high table of their cadaver in search of the brachiocephalic vein. In the past, they would have flipped through a chunky anatomy atlas to find the vessel. HIV clinic staff says message changes, but not mission

The fundamental reality for HIV/AIDS health providers, social workers, prevention specialists and patients and families of persons living with the disease can be summed up in a single word: change. Project Meant to Slow Emile Street Traffic

In an effort to slow traffic on Emile Street, two speed tables will be installed. The construction project will begin the week of Nov. 15 and should take from four to six weeks to complete.
The speed tables will be located adjacent to the Lot 50 parking structure entrance and just to the east of The Lied Transplant Center.

Dr. Fleisher receives Chancellor’s Gold U Award

After the storms pass, Mark Fleisher, M.D., emerges from behind his office door and sees rainbows. An associate professor in UNMC’s Department of Psychiatry, Dr. Fleisher helps patients with developmental disabilities and mental retardation regain a sense of normalcy in their lives.

Dr. Paul Sammut Honored for Cystic Fibrosis Research

Paul Sammut, M.D., Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, was among four individuals honored as “Omaha’s Finest” at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s annual event Nov. 5.
Dr. Sammut has worked extensively in the areas of cystic fibrosis treatment and research at UNMC for the past 16 years.

Online benefit enrollment information

You have the option to submit 2005 NUFlex benefit changes online using the SAP Employee Self Service (ESS) Web site (ess.nebraska.edu). The online method is fast and convenient, and can be used in place of your NUFlex Change Form. Changes can be made for any NUFlex benefit with the exception of dental and vision care coverage, by using your SAP ESS ID and password.
