Perception and reality – a look at cultural compentecy

When I travel, I (like many people) engage in small talk with fellow travelers. The usual question is asked: “Where are you from?” When I answer “Nebraska,” I get a number of responses: blank stare, surprised expression or the most frequent response, “How do you like it out there by yourself?” Many people are unaware of the actual diversity of our state and even more are surprised about the diversity of the metropolitan area.

College of Nursing partners with Jordanian university

The UNMC College of Nursing and the Al-Zaytoonah Private University (AZPU) of Jordan, have established an affiliation to advance nursing education in Jordan and the Arab region. On Monday, the UNMC College of Nursing formalized a three-year contract affiliation with AZPU that will include sharing its traditional and online nursing education and clinical curriculum. It also will provide faculty training in integrating online courses into traditional curriculum.

2004 Garden Walk raises $36,300 for MMI programs

On June 12 – the day before the Munroe-Meyer Guild 2004 Garden Walk — Omaha nearly set a record for a single day’s rainfall. But the sun shone June 13 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and hundreds of guests moved through the seven-featured gardens, raising $36,300 for the MMI programs. Then, just as the walk ended, the clouds rolled in and by 5:05 p.m. it had begun to rain.

These also are copyright violations.

UNMC attracts ‘best and brightest’

More students are attending UNMC this fall, and the incoming students are of exceptional quality, the campus’s chief academic officer said today. This fall, 2,904 students are enrolled at UNMC, an increase of 39 students (1.4 percent) from fall 2003.
