Comparative Medicine employee receives certification
Joseph Krajicek, assistant director for operations, UNMC Comparative Medicine, has been awarded professional certification as Certified Manager of Animal Resources. He is the second person in UNMC’s Department of Comparative Medicine to be certified at that level.

Dental Day serves 200 children
More than 200 children from 10 communities, including Lexington, Madison, Grand Island, Burwell, Ord, Hastings Norfolk, Schuyler, Crete and Lincoln, attended the UNMC College of Dentistry’s ninth annual Children’s Dental Day on Friday, Feb. 3.

Memorial service Feb. 11 for Dr. Westmoreland
Donna Westmoreland, Ph.D., associate professor in the UNMC College of Nursing, died Tuesday following a battle with cancer. She was 57. A memorial service will be Saturday.

Web-based study hopes to improve health of African Americans
Researchers at UNMC and Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Va., are collaborating on a unique study to evaluate whether an Internet-based program will help African American women living in rural areas improve their health. The program will focus on weight loss, healthy eating and increased activity.

Drs. Pamies, Satcher schedule on-campus book signing
On Saturday, Rubens Pamies, M.D., UNMC vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean of graduate studies, and David Satcher, M.D., Ph.D., interim president of Morehouse School of Medicine and former U.S. Surgeon General, will give a special presentation and sign copies of their book, “Multicultural Medicine and Health Disparities.”
