Omaha to host small business conference March 7-10

Small business owners, federal government agency funding representatives, and business leaders from around the United States will be in Omaha for the national conference of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs at Hilton Omaha on March 7-10. UNMC and UNeMed are helping to sponsor the conference.

New Comparative Medicine Management System planned

After months of planning and development, a new computerized business management system will be implemented by June. Because transition to the new CMMS will occur in stages, some researchers will be impacted immediately. System components include on-line animal ordering and “up to the minute” invoice access via the Research Support System (RSS); electronic barcode census; on-line Occupational Health and Safety Program (OHSP) enrollment via RSS; and OHSP training via Blackboard.

Nurse Practitioner Week recognized

In 1992, the UNMC College of Nursing started Nebraska’s first master’s degree for nurse practitioner specialties. To date, 437 students have earned their master’s degrees in nurse practitioner specialties from the college.

Nominations sought for faculty awards, including new award for graduate faculty

This spring, UNMC will honor a faculty member who cultivates the professional growth of graduate students. The first-ever UNMC Outstanding Faculty Mentor of Graduate Students Award will be presented at the Annual Faculty Meeting, which will begin at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, in the Durham Research Center’s Scott Auditorium.

UNMC Eppley Cancer Center to sell ‘Hope’ bracelets
