College of Medicine Dean John Gollan, M.D., Ph.D., has appointed a search committee to replace Mary Haven, who has announced plans to step down as associate dean of UNMC’s School of Allied Health Professions.

UNMC to recognize the academic achievements of employees
UNMC supports and commends the educational achievements of its workforce. Employees who have earned associate, undergraduate, or graduate degrees or special certifications during calendar year 2004 will receive a special recognition of their individual achievement.

Dr. Zheng wins Gilmore award; lecture set for Tuesday
Dr. Jialin Zheng will receive the 2005 Joseph P. Gilmore Outstanding Investigator Award on Tuesday. Dr. Zheng gives much of the credit for his research success to his research team and to several UNMC faculty members who have served as mentors to Dr. Zheng.

Dr. Turpen clowns around at the Shrine Circus

Dr. Turpen accepts more focused role in research administration
Paula Turpen, Ph.D., associate vice chancellor for research, has agreed to accept a more focused and highly specialized role in UNMC research administration. Tom Rosenquist, Ph.D., vice chancellor for research, announced recently that Dr. Turpen has become the first UNMC Director of Research Resources. Dr. Turpen assumed her new responsibilities on March 1.
