Epilepsy support group celebrates first anniversary

Heather Overton, a junior at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, is on a roll. In late March, Overton was named one of 16 national winners of the 2005 Pfizer Epilepsy Scholarship Award. On April 19, the support group she helped found celebrated its first anniversary. And, on June 3, if all goes as planned, Overton will celebrate two years of being seizure free.

The UNMC College of Nursing has launched a leadership academy for students. The pilot program began in Omaha earlier this year with plans in the fall to expand to the college’s divisions in Scottsbluff, Kearney and Lincoln.

Dr. Scholar is 2004 Alvin Earle award recipient

It’s not unusual to find students playing Pharmacojeopardy in the classroom of Eric Scholar, M.D. A professor in the Department of Pharmacology and the Eppley Institute, Dr. Scholar co-developed the game to help students with pharmacology review questions.
