Data gives oral health picture of state’s third-graders

In an effort to determine the prevalence of dental disease in Nebraska’s third-graders, the state Health and Human Services System, in cooperation with the UNMC pediatric dentistry residency program, conducted a dental surveillance screening at select schools across the state.

Integrative and organ systems pharmacology course June 6-17

A UNMC-led consortium has landed one of four National Institutes of Health grants to present a short course in Integrative and Organ Systems Pharmacology (IOSP). These short courses are designed to train researchers in the use of intact animals and relatively intact isolated organs or tissues.

Researchers evaluate treatment for lung disease

Researchers at UNMC are conducting a study to evaluate a new treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a debilitating and deadly lung disease. UNMC is one of 75 leading medical centers in North America and Europe participating in a phase III clinical trial that tests the potential of interferon gamma-1b.

Regent Wilson to address UNMC campus May 4

Physicians serve as healers, counselors, advocates, scientists, technicians, analysts, philosophers and leaders, so a broad intellectual foundation in the humanities is valuable, says University of Nebraska Regent Charles Wilson, M.D. He will be at UNMC on Wednesday, May 4, to present “Preparing Tomorrow’s Physician.” The noon presentation is in Bennett Hall, Room 2020.
