National storyteller, cancer survivor to perform Sept. 22
Nationally recognized storyteller Victoria Burnett will present a one-hour performance, “Storyspiritualogy” the art of telling stories through spirituals, at noon on Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater. Food will be served to the first 50 attendees.

Annual golf tournament to benefit UNMC student-run clinics
The sixth annual “SHARING The Green” golf tournament, which benefits three clinics run by University of Nebraska Medical Center students, will take place on Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Players Club at Deer Creek, 12101 Deer Creek Drive in Omaha.

Maurers honored by Chabad of Nebraska
Making the community better has been a team effort for UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., and his wife, Beverly. Team Maurer was in the spotlight once again Wednesday night as the Maurers were honored by Chabad of Nebraska for all they have done during their 12 years in Nebraska.

Volunteers needed for hospital decontamination team
Volunteers are needed to serve on the Hospital Decontamination Team. Safety Operations will be conducting a patient decontamination training session on Oct. 19 and 20 from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Health Professions Tracking Center lands contract
The UNMC Health Professions Tracking Center, a unique service for tracking health professionals, will seek approval of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents today to start providing its services to the Wyoming Health Care Commission. The one-year contract would be renewable on an annual basis.

Constitution and Citizenship Day: Fundamental rights affecting health care
On Sept. 17, the United States will celebrate Constitution and Citizenship Day to recognize the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. All educational institutions receiving federal funding are required to provide educational programming on the U.S. Constitution on or around Sept. 17 of every year.

Crews prepare area for demolition
Concrete barricades and a 10-foot tall chain-linked fence are going up where a handful of UNMC buildings will be coming down. Anderson Excavating employees have been installing the chain-linked fence between 40th and 41st Street for the first phase of demolition, which will begin Sept. 17.
