National experts in infectious diseases from the country’s three biocontainment units will meet during a conference today and Wednesday at the Marriott Regency motel. The country’s largest and only biocontainment unit available for the public is housed on the UNMC campus in Omaha.

Inside the Newborn Intensive Care Unit
Ava Saunders was supposed to become a big sister last month. Her brother had other plans. Griffin was born in July — 13 weeks early and weighing only 2 lbs. 2 oz. He spent 79 days in the newborn intensive care unit (NICU) at The Nebraska Medical Center before going home. On Nov. 16, the hospital’s tiniest patients will move into the new NICU in the Hixson-Lied Center for Clinical Excellence.
