Library produces how-to video on accessing health care

The UNMC McGoogan Library of Medicine wants to help. The library recently produced “Following the Clues: A Visit to the Doctor and the Library,” a 12-minute video narrated in English, Spanish and Sudanese-Nuer that shows viewers how to navigate the health care system and find health information at the library. Find out more about the on-campus premiere on March 20.

Preceptor award announced in memory of Dr. Koefoot

UNMC recently honored a Holdrege, Neb., family physician for his commitment to patient care and to training future physicians. Scott Ehresman, M.D., received the first Theodore H. Koefoot Jr., M.D., Outstanding Preceptor in Rural Family Medicine Award.

Common anti-convulsant drug may slow progression of dementia

Researchers have found that a common anticonvulsant drug improved cognitive function and appeared to restore nerve cells in the brains of patients with HIV-related dementia. The results of the Phase I clinical trial are published in the March issue of the scientific journal, “Neurology.”
