Boyden receives Chancellor’s Gold ‘U’ Award

Marjorie Boyden jokes that football kept her at UNMC. In reality, it is the colleagues and graduate students with whom she has worked the past 35-plus years. For her outstanding performance and service, Boyden, an office associate II in UNMC’s Department of Pathology and Microbiology, has received the Chancellor’s Gold ‘U’ Award for April.

Nebraska shows biotechnology prowess at BIO 2006

Nebraska’s high-tech pavilion at the Biotechnology Industry Organization’s April 9-12 biotechnology convention caught the attention of thousands of biotechnology executives, investors, journalists, policymakers and scientists, with its life-sized talking robot, Sprockit; its computerized dog, Sonic; and a team of Nebraskans dressed in red “Bio’s Hot in Nebraska” shirts.

Aging expert to speak at Harman Lectureship April 28

Though genetics plays a role in living to 100, centenarian study researchers say most people should be able to live to their late 80s in exceptional health. Aging expert Thomas Perls, M.D., will give Friday’s Denham Harman, M.D., Ph.D. Lectureship in Biomedical Gerontology at UNMC.
