On Thursday, the twins and 117 of their classmates participated in the National Resident Matching Program, which reveals where graduating medical students will be spending the next three to five years of their life learning and doing their residency training.

Library produces how-to video on accessing health care

The UNMC McGoogan Library of Medicine wants to help. The library recently produced “Following the Clues: A Visit to the Doctor and the Library,” a 12-minute video narrated in English, Spanish and Sudanese-Nuer that shows viewers how to navigate the health care system and find health information at the library. Find out more about the on-campus premiere on March 20.

UNMC will air its spring radio commercials beginning today on select stations in Omaha, Lincoln and across the state. A series of radio spots will highlight Nebraskans pride in UNMC and feature comments from individuals interviewed across the state.

Common anti-convulsant drug may slow progression of dementia

Researchers have found that a common anticonvulsant drug improved cognitive function and appeared to restore nerve cells in the brains of patients with HIV-related dementia. The results of the Phase I clinical trial are published in the March issue of the scientific journal, “Neurology.”
