Graduate nursing students present research colloquium

Thirty-eight master’s students and one doctoral student recently presented their research findings during the UNMC College of Nursing Spring Research Colloquium for graduate nursing students. There were 14 poster and three oral presentations at the March 29 event in the Durham Outpatient Center.

UNMC travels to world’s largest biotechnology convention

Showcasing the state’s biotechnology inventions, research and opportunities for companies to establish biotechnology businesses in Nebraska is the goal of 25 Nebraskans heading to Chicago April 9-12. The group will be among an estimated 20,000 people attending the Biotechnology Industry Organization’s annual international convention, known as “BIO 2006.”

Students sought for international conference in Beijing

Applications are now being accepted for the selection of 12 students to attend the International Student Forum in Beijing, China, June 30-July 2. UNMC was invited to the annual forum as a result of UNMC’s Asia Pacific Rim Development Program, inaugurated in early 2005. Applications are due April 15.

Physical therapy education receives University-wide award

Pat Hageman, Ph.D., can’t help but smile. And as the director of the Division of Physical Therapy Education at UNMC, she has good reason. On Thursday, the division was honored with the University-wide Departmental Teaching Award, given to a department within the University of Nebraska that has made unique and significant contributions to teaching.

Arts for Hearts seeks painters

Organizers of this year’s Arts for Hearts Show and Silent Auction are seeking up to 30 people to hand-paint plates and mugs for the annual art and craft show. Proceeds from the May event support the Munroe-Meyer Institute’s Recreation Therapy Program.
