For the past six years, Norman and Bernice Harris have awarded scholarships to graduate students pursuing cancer research. Now, they also are recognizing the skills of nursing students.

Dr. Froeschle among 2006 outstanding teachers

NU’s surgical robots in 18-day aquanaut expedition

NASA is using tiny surgical robots developed by University of Nebraska researchers as part of an underwater mission designed to train doctors to perform surgery in outer space. The 18-day NEEMO 9 expedition continues through April 20 and will evaluate two innovative robotic technologies that may some day be used to help keep spacefarers healthy, even during prolonged missions.

First Kicks For a Cure raises $100,000 for cancer

The first Kicks for a Cure fund-raiser scored big in its fight against women’s cancer. The March 31 weekend soccer events raised awareness, as well as an announced $100,000, for Liz’s Legacy, a fund started in memory of the late Liz Karnes, Ph.D., who died of ovarian cancer on April 24, 2003.
