Autistic teens steal limelight

Dick Vermeil knew he had been upstaged, but he didn’t mind one bit. The NFL coaching legend delivered the keynote address at the 5th annual GWR Sunshine Foundation benefit dinner at Qwest Center Omaha on June 4 to raise money for the Munroe-Meyer Institute’s autism program.

Dental day in Panhandle helps children, tests telehealth system

During the three years the UNMC College of Dentistry has taken Children’s Dental Day to the Panhandle, more than 500 children have received care and nearly $300,000 worth of services have been provided.

Students mix health, science, fun

In a UNMC pharmacy lab, three eighth-graders — Jordyn Lechtenberg, Devin Marie Jones and Tonnie Blount — conducted an experiment about the principles of drug compounding. The result: a recipe for rubbery-textured, gummy candy. The trio was among 58 eighth-graders from 31 schools across Nebraska to participate in UNMC’s 14th annual Health/Science Meet June 1-3.

Orthopaedic surgery graduation, symposium June 16-17
