Henry Mollett is celebrating his second chance at life. Today, the 68-year-old Council Bluffs man is 100 pounds lighter and feeling 30 years younger after receiving a liver transplant at The Nebraska Medical Center in April 2005. Patients with West Nile needed for clinical trial
Roger and Nancy DeBlauw began last summer like any other, enjoying time on their farm in Crofton, Neb. But their world changed in late July 2005 when Roger became critically ill after contracting West Nile virus. Now, he is participating in a National Institutes of Health-sponsored clinical trial of a potential treatment. The trial is being conducted regionally by UNMC.

Aaron Braun is walking in his father’s charitable footsteps. The fourth-year UNMC medical student is days away from teeing off his third charity golf tournament in memory of his father, Marvin, who died of leukemia in 1996.

Dr. Foxall retires from nursing profession
Martha Foxall, Ph.D., has dedicated her life to nursing education. She will retire today – after the summer class she teaches ends – with a 54-year investment in the nursing profession. The past 26 years have been in the UNMC College of Nursing.

Transplant reunion brings Olympian to Omaha
More than 1,000 people — including 300 transplant patients from 19 states — plan to attend this weekend’s 2006 Transplant Reunion. Olympic bronze medalist Chris Klug will be the honored guest at the event, which celebrates 36 years of organ transplants in Omaha.

Electronic signatures for travel expenses implemented
The University of Nebraska has begun implementing electronic signatures for online Travel Expense Statements in SAP. This will eliminate the need for required hand written signatures and thus expedite the travel reimbursement process.
