Adopt a family this holiday season
UNMC and its Adopt-A-School partner, Monroe Middle School, are once again working together this holiday season to help families in our community. UNMC would like to sponsor four families at the school this year.

Dr. Binhammer celebrates 50 years in the classroom
A celebration will be held today at 2:30 p.m. in University Tower’s private dining rooms A and B to honor Robert Binhammer, Ph.D., for his 50 years in the classroom teaching medical students. The celebration is open to the public. This feature on Dr. Binhammer appears in the current edition of UNMC Discover.

National journal spotlights Dr. Fox’s embryonic stem cell work
Thanks in large part to the work of UNMC scientist Ira Fox, M.D., an international group of researchers has demonstrated that embryonic stem cells can be converted into liver cells and used to restore liver function in mice with liver failure. The findings are reported in the Nov. 5 issue of Nature Biotechnology, the leading international science journal in the field.
