Dr. and Mrs. Armitage named “Samaritans of the Year”

Education opportunities highlighted at Latina/Latino Youth Conference
About 230 students from 12 high schools and one middle school in the Omaha area attended the Chicano Awareness Center’s 16th Annual Latina/Latino Youth Conference, which was co-hosted by UNMC on Oct. 27.

New procedure, clinical trial address vascular plaque
UNMC surgeons are using a new plaque excision system called SilverHawk as part of a multi-center clinical trial to study the effect of drug therapy on atherosclerotic plaque. UNMC is among a select group of institutions in the U.S. and Canada, and the only one in this region, participating in the trial, known as LEAP (Lower Extremity Atherosclerotic Plaque Excision).
