Long serving dean to step down and return to classroom

When Clarence Ueda, Pharm.D., Ph.D., steps down as dean of the UNMC College of Pharmacy next summer, it will end one of the longest running tenures of any UNMC dean. Dr. Ueda will wrap up his deanship on July 31, capping 20 years in the leadership role.

Concealed-carry law doesn’t extend to medical center property

A bill passed in the Legislature earlier this year means that beginning Jan. 1, 2007, Nebraskans in many cities, including Omaha, can carry concealed weapons. That said, guns and other deadly weapons are not allowed on the grounds of UNMC, UNMC Physicians or The Nebraska Medical Center.

New Year kicks off with Jan. 8-10 accreditation site visit

UNMC’s New Year’s wish is for a gleaming reaccreditation result. Faculty and staff are completing final preparations for the Jan. 8-10 site visit by seven members of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The site visit consultant-evaluators will meet with the campus community and assess UNMC’s standing for institution-wide reaccreditation.
