Plate painters needed for Arts for Hearts show

Painters are being sought to contribute to the sixth annual Arts for Hearts Art Show and Silent Auction. The event, which is sponsored by the C. Louis Meyer Foundation, will be held in the Durham Outpatient Center’s Central Atrium (second floor of the outpatient center near the gift shop) on Wednesday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Thursday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Letter of intent to establish Norfolk nursing division signed

In a symbolic ceremony in Norfolk on Monday, officials signed a letter of intent that fulfills one of three requirements toward establishing a nursing college in Norfolk. The letter was signed by officials from Northeast Community College and Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, and the University of Nebraska and UNMC.

Low-vision center offers new hope for those with sight problems

As an ophthalmologist, Carl Camaras, M.D., says there’s nothing more frustrating than not being able to help patients with their vision issues.
The Weigel Williamson Center for Visual Rehabilitation will help reduce such experiences for the region’s ophthalmologists, Dr. Camaras said Friday at a groundbreaking for the new center.
