Laboratory science student completes long trek to her degree

Her dad would be proud. Last Saturday, Janet Steinwart was among the more than 600 UNMC students who graduated. A non-traditional student, Steinwart received a bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS).

Julie Braun receives April Gold ‘U’

For Julie Braun it’s all about family. Whether it be at home taking care of five children — including four teenagers — or at work as an administrative assistant in UNMC’s Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery, Braun takes care of everyone as if they were family. For her work here at UNMC, Braun received the Chancellor’s Gold ‘U’ Award for the month of April.

This worker stands 8 feet tall, spans a width of 36 feet and holds the key to reducing medication errors and increasing patient safety and pharmacy productivity — giving pharmacists more time to spend consulting with physicians and nurses about patient care and medication safety.

One last time

College of Pharmacy Dean Clarence Ueda, Pharm.D., Ph.D., leads the college’s class of 2007 through the pharmacist’s oath at Friday’s convocation. Friday marked the final time Dr. Ueda will lead students through their oath as he is stepping down as dean in July after serving in the position for more than 20 years.
