UNMC College of Nursing students participated in a graduate student research colloquium last month. The colloquium was co-sponsored by the College of Nursing Graduate Program and Gammi Pi Chapter-At-Large, Sigma Theta Tau International.

Music as Medicine to feature chamber music
A violin player and pianist from the Omaha Chamber Music Society will perform during today’s Music as Medicine concert at noon in the Durham Outpatient Center Atrium.

Wayne State appoints Dr. Noren; Dr. Mueller named interim COPH dean
Jay Noren, M.D., founding dean of the UNMC College of Public Health, was appointed president at Wayne State University in Detroit on Wednesday.
Dr. Noren will start at Wayne State on Aug. 1 and will continue as dean of the College of Public Health until that time. Upon Dr. Noren’s departure, Keith Mueller, Ph.D., associate dean for academic affairs in the College of Public Health, will take over as interim dean while UNMC conducts a national search for a full-time dean.

Weaving cultural competency across campus
In 2005, campus leaders discussed cultural competency as being more than a series of diversity projects. It is an attitude, they said, that values differing experiences and perspectives and welcomes culture, world viewpoints and gender. In 2006, the goal formally became one of UNMC’s critical success factors complete with action steps.
