UNMC to be featured Friday on CBS Evening News

Steve Hartman is a great storyteller. Each week, he scours the country looking for unique stories on fascinating people for his weekly “Assignment America” segment on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. This week, Hartman came to Omaha to put together a video masterpiece on Mark Gilbert, UNMC’s artist in residence who has been involved in two pioneering efforts — teaching medical students how to improve their observation skills and painting a series of portraits of patients and their caregivers.

UNMC Off the Clock – Sara Cizek Going calls the Bluejays’ shots

Sara Cizek Going knows basketball. As a high school player, Cizek Going, a government relations specialist at UNMC, helped lead Millard South to a Class A state championship in 1996. She followed that up with four years of playing Division I hoops as a forward at Creighton University. After wrapping up her career with the Bluejays in 2002, Cizek Going was prepared to walk away from the game, head off to law school and join the “real world.” But a funny thing happened on the way to the bar exam.
