Novel technology developed by UNMC’s Paul Dunman, Ph.D., played a critical role in Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s discovery of a novel way to inhibit and potentially kill the deadly Staph bacteria by starving it of the nutrients it requires to survive.

A UNMC research team has helped scientists from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in discovering a protein that starves staphylococcus bacteria to death by hiding the metals they crave. The findings are published in Science.
