Dr. Noren a candidate for Detroit university presidency

Jay Noren, M.D., founding dean of the UNMC College of Public Health, has been selected as the final candidate in the search for a new president at Wayne State University in Detroit.
The university’s board of governors will gather Wednesday to consider Dr. Noren’s candidacy.

Writing is good medicine

It would be hard to decipher which of the following statements is bigger news – “Man bites dog” or “Poet treats doctors.” Well, the second statement sort of happened this past winter at UNMC, where for eight weeks, seven medical center physicians set aside their Tuesday nights (and maybe a bit of pride) to take part in a creative-writing workshop led by critically-acclaimed poet Steve Langan.

Compromise bill is highlight of legislative session
