Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today for Darrel Moreland, D.D.S., a strong supporter of the UNMC College of Dentistry and a friend to many at the University of Nebraska who died Sunday following an apparent heart attack.

Apathy study funded by Alzheimer’s Association
Prasad Padala, M.D., assistant professor of psychiatry at UNMC and a staff psychiatrist at the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System, received a New Investigator Research Grant from the Alzheimer’s Association, the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research.

Toy drive to benefit American Indian children
It all started with a simple offer of help. Three years ago on a drive with a friend to an American Indian reservation in South Dakota, Mike Cieciorka, a nurse in the cardiology clinic at UNMC, agreed to help raise money to buy toys for Christmas for the children who live there.
