Memorial service held for Dr. Mark Christensen

A memorial service was held Thursday at Countryside Community Church in Omaha for Mark Christensen, M.D., a clinical associate professor of surgery in the UNMC College of Medicine, who died July 16 at the age of 61 from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. today for Jeffrey Knajdl, M.D., a psychiatric oncologist in Bellevue, Neb., with strong ties to UNMC. The service will be held at the Heafey-Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak & Cutler Mortuary, 7805 West Center Road in Omaha.

Workshop aimed at better science education for American Indians

Kidney ‘swap’ creates transplant opportunities

UNMC’s hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center, is taking part in a nationwide initiative to match more people needing kidney transplants with people who are willing to donate. It’s called a donor swap. It works by pairing two sets of donors and recipients who are incompatible with each other.
