Adopt a Family this holiday season
Once again the holiday season is approaching and UNMC and its Adopt-A-School partner, Monroe Middle School, are working together to help families in our community. UNMC hopes to spread some holiday cheer by sponsoring families.

Dr. Hageman to step down after 19 years as PT chair
Pat Hageman, Ph.D., has a thing about holidays. She was born on Christmas Eve. She met her husband on Halloween. … In keeping with her holiday tradition, today — which is Halloween — Dr. Hageman steps down as chairwoman of the division of physical therapy education.

A final push needed to meet United Way goal
Today is the final day of the 2008 United Way drive and as of Thursday, employees had combined to raise $131,079, which is 92 percent of UNMC’s goal of $140,980.

Mission of mercy provides dental care in western Nebraska
UNMC dental faculty and students took part in the fourth annual Nebraska Mission of Mercy in Mitchell, Neb. The UNMC volunteers, together with area dentists and hygienists, treated 1,065 people during the two-day event and provided $571,515 in dental care.

Jen O’Neill wins award from renowned distance education school
WINNETKA, Ill. — Jen O’Neill has won the Robert J. Winn Family Education Award from The Hadley School for the Blind, an international distance education school, for her commitment to educating herself and her daughter, who suffers from retinopathy of prematurity.
