Nurse practitioner fulfills dream in poverty-stricken Bangladesh
As a young adult, Sandra Borden knew she wanted to work overseas in a remote place. She never really dreamed of being a nurse, nor did she seriously consider nursing as a career. But nursing was her destiny. The Gibbon, Neb., woman went on to build and staff a hospital in one of the poorest and most remote parts of the world. McGoogan Library staff host Fontenelle students
For the past five years, the UNMC McGoogan Library of Medicine has been a major supporter of the Fontenelle Elementary School library. Initially, the staff sponsored Fontenelle under the Adopt-A-School program, but in 2000, staff members focused their interests on assisting the school’s library.

After Cheryle Rambo’s sister died of colon cancer at a young age, Rambo was told she had an increased risk of developing colon cancer and needed to get checked sooner and more often than someone without a family history of the disease.
