Med Center marks first anniversary of heart transplant
On Sept. 29, 2005, The Nebraska Medical Center completed its first transplant in its newly reorganized heart transplant program. In the year since, 17 heart transplants have been performed at the medical center.

Note on Distinguished Scientists criteria
Earlier this week, UNMC Today announced the 25 investigators who have been named UNMC Distinguished Scientists for 2006. Administrators and department chairs were excluded from this year’s competition, which recognizes those UNMC researchers who have been among the most productive scientists in the country over the past five years.
