UNMC Off The Clock — The Sangers are quite the anglers
For many a father and son, fishing has served as a bonding activity. A chance to spend time together in nature while pursuing the thrill of the catch. This is holds true for UNMC’s Warren Sanger, Ph.D., and his son, Travis Sanger, M.D. The only difference between the Sangers and many other father-son fishing tandems is the Sangers are really, really good at fishing.

American Indian dancers offer lunchtime culture break
The Durham Outpatient Center West Atrium served as a cultural crossing point on Tuesday during a demonstration of traditional Native American Indian dances. During a noontime performance, members of the American Indian Dance Theater performed several routines, including one that involved about 20 members of the audience participating in a dance resembling a conga line.

Proposed cloning bill would ban therapeutic cloning
State lawmakers today will hear testimony on LB 700, a bill that purports to ban the cloning of humans. While LB 700 does, in fact, ban human cloning, also known as reproductive cloning, it also bans a technique known as somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT), or “therapeutic cloning.”

UNMC scientists making headway in proteomics research
The emerging field of proteomics research is helping scientists unravel the mysteries of some of the most serious diseases known to man. A team of UNMC researchers led by Pawel Ciborowski, Ph.D., and Howard Gendelman, M.D., are using proteomic technology to discover protein biomarkers that will ultimately lead to better diagnosis and treatment of brain diseases.
