Physician assistants, like UNMC alum Thom Weis, left, are more likely to offer patient counseling on some chronic conditions, a UNMC study found, while nurse practitioners were more likely to offer their patients education on others. Both professions were more likely to offer health education on chronic conditions than were physicians, but all three types of providers could do better, the study found.
