Rebecca Oberley Deegan, Ph.D., UNMC, Kenneth Bayles, Ph.D., associate vice chancellor for basic science research at UNMC, and David Berkowitz, Ph.D., professor of chemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, are three of the key NU scientists involved in a project with the U.S. Department of Defense to develop drugs that would protect U.S. troops from radiation exposure.
