The two developed the robot for minimally invasive surgeries. Their startup company, Virtual Incision, announced March 1 the first use of its miniaturized robot in human surgery.

John Tinker, M.D., professor and chair of the University of Nebraska Medical Center Department of Anesthesiology from 1997-2008, died Feb. 17 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
