Holland honored for his support of research
Richard “Dick” Holland is always willing to take on a challenge. As his daughter, Mary Ann Holland, said, “My dad has never met a controversy he didn’t love. Once he gets his teeth into something, he’s like a pit bull.”
On April 14, Nebraskans for Research honored Holland at its annual tribute luncheon at Omaha’s Happy Hollow Club.

UNMC bids Luann Andersen a Lone Star farewell
It could be argued that a person’s importance may be measured best in his or her absence. Well, when Luann Andersen doesn’t report to the chancellor’s office for work on Monday, people around the campus will no doubt feel that someone important is missing. Today, Andersen — executive administrator to Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D. — will work her last day at UNMC, where she has been a familiar face since 1976.

Dr. Weigel: New low vision center to improve lives
Harry Weigel, M.D., knows all too well the problems low vision can cause. In comments the 1958 College of Medicine graduate made Tuesday at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for UNMC’s new Weigel Williamson Center for Visual Rehabilitation, Dr. Weigel mentioned a long list of family members who had suffered from vision problems.

‘Kicks For a Cure’ Soccer event coming on April 18-19
UNMC’s Eppley Cancer Center and Creighton University plan to score more points in the fight against women’s cancers with the third annual Kicks for a Cure event. The two-day event will take place on April 18-19 at Creighton University’s Michael G. Morrison, S.J., Stadium in Omaha.
