Memorial service held for Dr. Mark Christensen
A memorial service was held Thursday at Countryside Community Church in Omaha for Mark Christensen, M.D., a clinical associate professor of surgery in the UNMC College of Medicine, who died July 16 at the age of 61 from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Sorrell Center expected to bring UNMC alumni back to Omaha

Many people recognize those words as a famous line from the movie, “Field of Dreams.” But, the words are equally appropriate at UNMC this year, as many alumni are expected to flock back to campus over the course of the next couple months to view the new Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education.

Kidney ‘swap’ creates transplant opportunities
UNMC’s hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center, is taking part in a nationwide initiative to match more people needing kidney transplants with people who are willing to donate. It’s called a donor swap. It works by pairing two sets of donors and recipients who are incompatible with each other.
