A 1980 graduate of the UNMC College of Dentistry and dental officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, Capt. Charles Craft, D.D.S., has spent the past 28 years providing dental care to underserved people around the world. It was during a 2007 mission in the Philippines that Dr. Craft saw firsthand the potential global impact that College of Dentistry graduates can truly achieve.

A musical message of gratitude at Omaha dental clinic
Their smiles were thanks enough for the pediatric dental residents, faculty and staff at the UNMC College of Dentistry Pediatric Dental Clinic in Omaha. But when the five children from Uganda began to sing, it was the residents turn to smile. The Ugandan children, ranging in age from 10 to 13, made a stop at the pediatric clinic Monday morning to get their teeth cleaned and sealed.

Pre-health students learn about culturally competent care
