UNMC names new research center in honor of Charles Durham
In recognition of his generous gift, UNMC has named its newest research building in honor of Omaha philanthropist Charles Durham.
The announcement was made Wednesday during a ceremony in the facility that will bear the Durham name. The facility — formerly the Research Center of Excellence — will now be called the Durham Research Center. The adjoining plaza area – 45th Street from Emile Street to Dewey Avenue and Dewey Avenue from 45th Street to 44th Street — also was named the Durham Research Plaza. Nine named to “America’s Top Doctor’s” list
Nine UNMC/NHS physicians have been recognized as extraordinary physicians in “America’s Top Doctors,” a national guide published annually by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. of New York City.

Taylor earns Chancellor’s Gold ‘U’ Award
When Robin Taylor decided to return to work, her teen-age daughter encouraged her to “find the world.” She did — literally down the street — at UNMC.
An administrative technician for UNMC’s Center of Neurovirology and Neurodegenerative Disorders, Taylor works with a diverse group of people from varying ethnic and educational backgrounds on special projects, grants and administrative functions. For her outstanding job performance, Taylor has received the Chancellor’s Gold ‘U’ Award for October.

Naming ceremony today for Research Center of Excellence
The campus community is invited to attend the naming ceremony for the UNMC Research Center of Excellence Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m.
UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., and the University of Nebraska Foundation will host the event that will take place on the first floor of the building currently under construction on 45th Street.

Share thoughts today on accessing health care on campus
There are still spaces available for UNMC faculty, staff and students to attend today’s employee roundtable session, which will focus on health care access and involve a discussion with University Medical Associates about how to improve service and accessibility to healthcare providers on campus. The session will be from noon to 1 p.m. in Wittson Hall, Room 3042.

Old photo I.D. cards have expired
UNMC employees and students, as well as UMA employees, who have not obtained new photo identification cards are reminded to do so as soon as possible. UNMC began recarding the campus on June 24th, and the old photo I.D. cards are no longer a valid form of identification.
