Dr. Maurer earns Lifetime Achievement Award from Children’s Oncology Group

Maurer, M.D., has been named the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Children’s Oncology Group, a National Cancer Institute-supported clinical cooperative cancer treatment and research group. Dr. Maurer is being recognized for his significant contributions to pediatric cancer research.

UNMC announces first phase of budget cuts

UNMC today announced its plans to reduce its budget by $2 million for the fiscal year 2003-2004. “None of these cuts are easy. We’ve tried to preserve our educational programs in these cuts, and I think that we’ve done a good job of selecting parts of the budget that will have the least impact on the overall vision of UNMC,” UNMC Chancellor Harold M. UNMC sends medical supplies to Afghanistan

The UNMC Bookstore has donated approximately 25 boxes of nursing and medical books, as well as lab coats and scrubs to hospitals in Afghanistan. It is the first donation being sent from UNMC to the impoverished area.

NU’s appropriation hasn’t kept pace with general fund increases

When the Nebraska general fund appropriation rose more than 12 percent in 1998-1999, the University of Nebraska’s allocation from the state increased less than 4 percent.
